The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) between Haryana and Rajasthan — covering Delhi-Gurgaon-Rewari-Alwar — got a major boost on Saturday, with the Rajasthan government finally giving its nod to the project. This comes more than four months after Haryana approved the high-speed rail project.

“The Rajasthan government has given its approval to the detailed project report for the project. It has conveyed the same to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC),” sources said.

The proposed RRTS corridor that was approved by the NCRTC Board in December last year, the implementing agency for the project, is the first instalment of the larger Delhi-Gurgaon-Alwar corridor. The corridor would bring down the travel time between Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and the SNB (Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror) Urban Complex, which are 106km apart, to about 70 minutes.
